Unique location – variety in the glass
The Pannonian climate with 300 days of sunshine per year, mild winters, and the fertile soils around Lake Neusiedl provide ideal conditions for viticulture. Here, fruity white wines, powerful red wines, and exquisite sweet wine specialties mature – a diversity that is unparalleled internationally.
With heart and responsibility
Julius and Daniela Hafner manage the winery on vineyards around Mönchhof and Frauenkirchen, some of which are over 800 years old – with respect for nature and a commitment to delivering the highest quality. Organic viticulture, state-of-the-art cellar technology, and a clear focus on digestibility characterize their work. Many of their wines are low in histamine (<0.1 mg/l) and particularly well-tolerated – enjoyment without compromise.
Innovation meets tradition
The success of our wines is a wonderful affirmation of our work, but at the same time an incentive to invest even more in quality and to expand our range. After producing Austria’s first ice wine (1971) and introducing kosher wine production (1980), developments such as the world’s first kosher ice wine (2000) and the official transition to organic viticulture (2008) were only logical steps in our evolution.
The most rewarding fruits of our work are our many enthusiastic customers! A large number of our wines contain no detectable histamine, and the use of sulfites is reduced to a minimum in order to increase tolerance for people with sensitivities. We even receive letters of thanks from people who, since enjoying our products, have once again been able to experience the pleasure of wine.
We also strive to live up to our responsibility toward nature and the environment. We largely use bio-based closures from Nomacorc, made from sugarcane starch and the only closures worldwide with a neutral CO₂ footprint. Our electricity consumption is largely covered by our new 40-kW photovoltaic system and the use of wind energy.
